How does creativity connect to self-expression for you?
I am inherently drawn to emotions, feelings, and thoughts, constantly driven by curiosity. For me, creativity serves as a powerful conduit for self-expression. Through my illustrations, particularly with whimsical characters, I've discovered a profound means of healing one's inner child. It's not merely a form of artistic inspiration but rather a sanctuary where I can authentically express my vulnerability and voice. Through each stroke of the brush or pen, I find liberation and connection to my truest self.
How do you define your individuality as an artist, and in what ways does this uniqueness manifest in your creations?
All arts are humans, all humans have feelings, and feelings can never be conditional. I strive to evoke a sense of universal empathy and connection, transcending boundaries and resonating with the human experience on a profound level.
In your perspective, what role does creativity play in empowering individuals and communities, and how have you witnessed this power in action?
When I collaborate with brands, I find that ripple effects happened when people saw my cute arts, they felt the human touch really resonate with their well being! Through my bunnies, they are here to advocate mental well-being, forge firm boundaries, and forge a community that is ruthless when it comes to mental health. My mental health bingos are very well loved from people, reminding people to take mindful healing steps, one square at a time.
Have you faced any challenges in maintaining your individuality in your work, especially in the face of trends or external expectations? How did you overcome them?
It is actually common to face challenges time to time when trends get overwhelmed or if ever felt pressured by external expectations (such as advices from others) But I strongly believe that you can only control what’s within your control such as your presentation, your art skills, your story telling voice. I find that I flourish the most when I chose my unique identity and embrace it. One note: you have to be your own best friend because realistic speaking, along finding your style can indeed be lonely journey, but you must acknowledge that you are your own cheerleader, not your enemy. Despite any frustrations you faced along your exploration, remind yourself that its important to be gentle on self exploration.
What advice would you give to emerging artists who are trying to find and express their individuality through their work?
Honestly, keep a sketchbook and journal to document your thoughts! Your story is actually the roadmap to a strong individualism. Never be afraid to take a leap of faith, be brave to pursue all sorts of arts medium.
What’s the one thing you want to accomplish this year?
Career wise, to launch a zine about living alone or healthy coping mechanism. Personal wise, is to be very consistent with my exercise routine and my Japanese lessons. (My goal is to booth in Japan!)
